Zach Beckner’s thoughts:
“I was given a reference by a family friend for Coffee Junkiez, so I applied and was hired. My first day was overwhelming! I was trying to remember lots of recipes and the locations of all the ingredients. The pace of this job can become very busy. I am more comfortable now, and I have learned how to make a wide variety of coffee drinks, as well as handle customer situations. This job at Coffee Junkiez is definitely preparing me to work on sales techniques, which will be helpful for my future. My class at the Kokomo Area Career Center also has been helpful with this job experience. Mr. Miller helped me work through different job problems and helped me resolve those issues. After high school, I plan to attend IU Kokomo and take classes that will prepare me to be a financial planner.”
Chris and Annie Thatcher’s comments:
“We look forward to the continued revitalization of Kokomo. We believe we have the cheapest prices and fastest delivery at Coffee Junkiez. We also are planning to open a new restaurant – Gabetta’s – downtown at 503 N. Buckeye Street. Gabetta’s will serve a home-style breakfast, deli lunch and baked goods. We feel that the Kokomo Area Career Center gives students an early start to learn the basics of work. We both attended the Kokomo Area Career Center when we were in high school. We have emphasized good customer service with Zach, and he has become a favorite with many of our customers. When Zach works during the day, he is responsible for making foods, drinks and customer service. This job at Coffee Junkiez will give Zach experience with the sales aspect of the employment he would like to have in the future.”
