Encourage your blessings to chase after you

---- — Words have power.

Words can heal hurt or hurt. It is not true that sticks and stones may break your bones, but words will never hurt you. The words we speak can change our life for better or worse.

Our words are like magnets. Just as positive thinking creates positive results so positive words will also beacon positive opportunities to come our way. When we speak in the negative, the negative will come “looking” for us.

Whenever we say “I am” we are inviting into our life what we say next. When we say “I am weak” then weakness will follow us. Joel Osteen shares, “What follows the “I am” will always come looking for you.”

Look at yourself and say “I am loved,” “I am healthy,” “I am blessed!” “I am healing.” I am healed!” “I Am” is the beginning of what is called an affirmation. Yes the negative “pleads” with us to embrace it, but we can change any negative thought into a positive one.

One of Jesus' major “I am” proclamations is: “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12)

You get to choose what comes after you say “I am.” Be careful what words you choose to follow your proclamation. Look in the mirror and proclaim “I am fearfully and wonderfully made!” Look at yourself and say: “I am handsome,” I am beautiful,” “I am the head and not the tail,” “I am more than a conqueror in Christ Jesus which strengthens me!”

This upcoming week let’s strive to drop all negatives from our conversation. Let’s use only positive statements after we say “I am.”

Let go of all negative criticisms of yourself and of others. What you speak is like a magnet that will draw the conditions you speak of towards you. Ask yourself “Is what I am saying promoting life or death for my situation in life?” Remember “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” (Proverbs 18:21)

Encourage your blessings to chase after you. Speak blessings upon others. God has blessed you with the opportunity to speak life. So speak life!
