---- — Kokomo Symphony Orchestra is revving up its season with rhythm. The show entitled: “Latin Classical Party” will mark a monumental anniversary for the musical ensemble — the orchestra will be celebrating its 40th season in Kokomo.

Jennifer Rollins, director of development for Kokomo Symphony Orchestra, said the “Latin Classical Party” is a way to showcase all Kokomo Symphony Orchestra has to offer for every age. The evening of smooth music and fun grooves will start off with a dinner provided by Hacienda.

“It’s an uplifting and festive way to kick off the season,” Rollins said. “The themed concerts also appeal to all folks, it’s very upbeat and the night will make you want to dance.”

The dinner-and-a-show entertainment also gives guests an opportunity to experience renowned entertainment in their hometown instead of driving to Indianapolis, Rollins added. The event costs $35 a person if one chooses to attend the dinner as well.

“It’s great because this is the type of entertainment people have to travel to find, but we’re bringing it right here to Kokomo and have done just that for [40 years], it’s really a huge thing for the community,” Rollins said.

The season is just getting started with Saturday’s “Latin Classical Party.” The 2013-14 season includes three Kokomo Symphony Orchestra youth concerts and three traditional orchestra concerts. Another noteworthy performance is Kokomo Symphony Orchestra’s performance Feb. 8 that will include several adult choirs from around the state.

“It’s a really unique thing we’ve never done before,” Rollins said about the “Sing for Connections” concert.

Overall, Rolllins said, the concert season is about bringing the community together with music and entertainment that has a rich history in Kokomo and musical culture.
