KCT kicks off 2012-13 season with ‘My Fair Lady’

Kokomo Civic Theatre is presenting one of the most classic musicals of all time this weekend as “My Fair Lady” comes back to Kokomo. The last time the group presented the musical, with book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner and music by Frederick Loewe, was 1981.

The piece tells the story of Eliza Doolittle, a flower girl who takes speech lessons from professor Henry Higgins so that she can pass as an elegant lady.

Show times are 8 p.m. today and Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $15 for adults, $14 for seniors and $10 for students through college. For more information, visit www.kokomocivictheatre.com.

Instructor releases fitness DVD

Local fitness instructor Tara Galles is set to present a special edition of her Christian yoga class, Spirit of Heaven Yoga at 8 a.m. Saturday at the Earthen Stage in Highland Park. The class will be offered free to the community, and no previous experience is required.

The Club Fitness 24 instructor teaches the class weekly at 9 a.m. Saturdays and wanted a chance to offer the class to the community. She is also set to release her debut Christian yoga home exercise DVD titled “Perfect Peace” at Saturday’s event. “Perfect Peace” is a 49-minute easy-to-follow home exercise video that is divided into four eight-minute sessions and ends with a 10-minute guided meditation. “The goal of the meditation is to help the participant connect with God’s spirit and find peace from within,” said Galles. DVDs are $15 and available online at www.spiritofheavenyoga.com.
