Civic Players of Logansport will present Rodgers and Hammerstein’s musical “The Sound of Music” at 7:30 p.m. June 20, 21, 27 and 28 at McHale Performing Arts Center, on the Logansport High School campus. All tickets are $15. Advance tickets are available by calling 574-722-3000; box office opens one hour before show time each night.
Directed by Ted Denton and produced by Dr. Ralph Anderson, the musical tells the story of the von Trapp family singers. When Maria proves too high-spirited for the religious life, she is dispatched to serve as governess for the seven children of a widowed naval captain. Her growing rapport with the youngsters, coupled with her generosity of spirit, gradually captures the heart of the stern captain, and they marry. Upon returning from their honeymoon they discover that Austria has been invaded by the Nazis, who demand the captain’s immediate service in their navy. The von Trapps narrowly escape over the mountains to Switzerland on the eve of World War II.
