He busted a move on the dance floor while wearing a woman’s straw hat, and I couldn’t help but chuckle.
They say that girls want to marry men like their fathers. For years, I swore that wasn’t true. Then one day I realized it actually was.
That means I also want to marry a man exactly like my brother, who is my dad made over.
That brings me back to my original story. My brother was a groomsman in my cousin’s wedding this past weekend.
It was a country wedding with beautiful decorations. There was a wooden gazebo at the entrance of the reception hall, antique tables for the wedding party to sit at and a handful of straw hats hanging on the stalls in the women’s bathroom.
About halfway through the night, I spot my brother breaking it down on the dance floor with one of those straw hats on his head.
No, he didn’t go inside the women’s bathroom to get it. Someone else brought it out of the restroom. He just spotted it on a table and thought it would be the perfect addition to his tuxedo.
When I saw him wearing it, I just laughed – not because it was embarrassing or out of character but because it was so him.
My favorite home video was filmed many Christmases ago when my brother was still a young boy, maybe 11 or 12.
He had just opened a gift, the one he had been waiting for. It was a pair of IU basketball shorts. You see him on camera putting the shorts on, hiking them way up. And he starts screaming and dancing around the room. It’s a little ridiculous and over the top, so in other words, exactly like my brother.
