This week's best bets

1) Beer, wine and food galore

It's time for the Greatest Spectacle in Tasting again. Sample food, wine and specialty beer on the grounds of Bona Vista from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday. Bid on the 150 silent auction items and listen to live music from Mike Milligan and Steam Shovel.

Tickets are $35 in advance or $45 at the door. Proceeds from the event benefit Bona Vista programs. Organizers are hoping to raise more than $50,000 this year.

2) Instrument petting zoo

The Kokomo Symphony Youth Orchestra presents its instrument petting zoo and final concert Sunday afternoon at Grace United Methodist Church.

Come at 2 p.m. to test your musical skills on a variety of instruments and then stay for the concert that starts at 3:30 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public so stop by.

3) Flag football for charity

Raise money for military personnel and their families while showcasing your mad football skills during the annual Buddy Bowl at Northwestern High School Saturday. The flag football tournament goes from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Player registration fee is $40 per adult player and $20 for “Little” Buddy Bowl participants. Fee is waived for active duty and retired military. For information, call Kristine White, 219-707-3378.

The Buddy Bowl is unique because it is the only annual event in the U.S. that raises money for military and law enforcement personnel and their families through a community based flag football tournament that includes both physically challenged and able-bodied participants.
