1) Early Earth Day
Celebrate Earth Day early during the First Friday event in downtown Kokomo.
From 5:30 to 9 p.m. tonight, people can head to 42 different sites downtown to learn about the many ways to go green, all while exploring what local downtown businesses and organizations have to offer.
Beth’s Main Street Folkart Studio, 210 N. Main St., is celebrating the planet by offering demos on how to make art pieces from recycled or repurposed items.
Kids can learn about animals and plants at Planet Mind Learning Store, 108 N. Main St. EarthPros LLC Organic Farm will be on hand with baby goats and will demonstrate the best way to plant a seed.
2) Greased lightning
Head north to Miami County for the Grissom Air Museum Open House and Greased Lightning Celebration from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. In 1963 a B-58 called "Greased Lightning" set a record by flying from Tokyo to London, 8,028 miles, in under nine hours.
