Taste of Kokomo amps up festival

Head to downtown Kokomo Saturday for one of [friday]’s favorite — and certainly one of the yummiest — fundraisers of the year.

From 5 to 10 p.m. Saturday, the Courthouse Square will be filled with people tasting mini portions of signature dishes served up by more than 30 restaurants. There will be music, demonstrations, kids’ activities and more.

The festival marks the unofficial kickoff to the fundraising season for United Way. Admission is $3. Tickets are $1 and may be exchanged for food items.

5:30 p.m.: Gourmet Burger

6:30 p.m.: Burrito Chomp

7 p.m.: Tenderloin Throwdown

8 p.m.: Red on Red, Wine and Steak Pairing

9 p.m.: Buffalo Wild Wings' Blazin' Challenge

9:30 p.m.: McClure’s Orchard Wine Tasting

10 p.m.: Mixology, Bartending Competition


Pink Droyd rounds out concert series today

Come hear the sounds, see the look and get the feel of a Pink Floyd show as Pink Droyd takes the stage to cap off the Kokomo Summer Concert Series at the Kokomo Arts Pavilion in Foster Park.

The night will include a robotic, intelligent light show with digital video accompaniment and a laser show.

Run for Shelter returns

Lace up your running shoes for a good cause Saturday as the CAM Run for Shelter 5K Run & Walk and Fun Mile returns to Oakbrook Valley.

All proceeds go to help the Coordinated Assistance Ministry shelter. Registration is $20, and finishers will be treated to smoothies from pHresh! Interactive Juice Bar at the end of the race.

THURSDAY: Music at the Fountain returns to Greentown, featuring the Christmas City Chorus. Music will be in downtown Greentown at 7 p.m., and admission is free.
