Scott Futerfas, owner of the newly opened The Quarry restaurant in Forest Park Plaza, has been busy adapting his new eatery to meet the expectations of Kokomo diners.
The Quarry opened in early April with a simple concept — “great food and great service.”
Providing both remains Futerfas’ aim, and from the start, the longtime restaurateur has held a stated intention of competing with both the quality and ambiance of the quality eateries on the north side of Indianapolis and Carmel.
That doesn’t, however, mean there’s anything stuffy or formal about the way The Quarry welcomes its customers.
Futerfas has already made numerous changes, introducing a wider selection of burgers to the lunch menu, and preparing to offer items like a specialty pot roast to the dinner menu.
“We’ll do it as The Quarry would do it, with high-quality products and care,” he said.
He’s working to expand the evening bar scene at the restaurant, introducing $5 martini night, and another night with specials on import and domestic draft beer pints. Customers can contact The Quarry at (765) 450-5650 for information on daily specials and for reservations.
But like any new restaurant, he’s faced with the task of building a customer base — and widespread recognition — in a town already crowded with restaurants.
“People know what Pastarrific is doing, and they know the things the Half Moon Brewery does, but the biggest problem we have right now is most people don’t know about us,” he said.
