Heart pioneer deserved better
On Sunday, July 13, I had the pleasure of reading the Kokomo Tribune newspaper. To my surprise, on Page 2, was the obituary listing of many Kokomo area residents. I read the entire obituary listing and found that none had the esteem of Dr. Michael DeBakey, whose obituary was on Page 6.
Dr. DeBakey, the father of modern cardiovascular surgery, who invented scores of medical procedures and instruments, developed the mobile Army surgical hospital, which later became the Veterans Administration Hospital system. He performed the first successful heart bypass operation and is credited with saving thousands of lives. He was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal of Honor, the highest civilian honor. Your paper placed his obituary on Page 6! This is an insult and a journalistic discourtesy to a great man. Where are your values of human endeavors?

Does Obama really reflect our values?
Sen. Obama is hopeful that he can convert Indiana into a blue state because he can best reflect Hoosier values in Washington. Really? Sen. Obama’s values include: less individual liberty and more government, regulated collectivism, neglecting until dead babies born alive following an abortion attempt, wreaking havoc on American manufacturing by implementing draconian global warming alarmist policies, raising taxes, and weakening American defense and intelligence capabilities during the war against terror.
If these reflect your values, then by all means cast your ballot for Sen. Barack Obama. If these do not reflect the Hoosier values you embrace, then think logically and vote accordingly.
