Speech should have been heard

What kind of weak school administrators do we have in this area that they would bow to pressure of some narrow-minded parents who are afraid of what the President of the United States might tell their children?

How many parents objected to showing the President Obama’s Labor Day speech live? Was it one? Ten? A hundred? What is the threshold for this kind of censorship by school administrators?

The White House posted President Obama’s remarks on their Web site Monday.

His remarks include:

“At the end of the day, we can have the most dedicated teachers, the most supportive parents, and the best schools in the world and none of it will matter unless all of you fulfill your responsibilities.”

“What you make of your education will decide nothing less than the future of this country. What you’re learning in school today will determine whether we as a nation can meet our greatest challenges in the future.”

Wow. This is scary, liberal stuff, it is! Those same words had they been uttered by Ronald Reagan, Richard Nixon or one of the Bushes would have be hailed as great oration.

Shame on you school administrators and superintendents. You are not teaching children respect for the political process and our president. By your cowardice, you show them that you lack the courage to do what is right.

Setting a bad example for youth

The evil, angry, hostile display of immature American dialogue over the past few months is setting a bad example for our youth. As adults, we should be able to have a healthy debate over healthcare issues and other issues without screaming and hollering like uneducated idiots. I was so ashamed and disappointed to see such childish, uninformed display.

We know it was orchestrated to some extent, but why would Americans allow themselves to be used in such a degrading way. Blatant anger is not of God. It comes from a dark place and one should not want to tarry in that state for very long. You are setting a poor example for our youth and your examples will come back to haunt you if not corrected.

The irony is that there is a lot of misinformation and uninformed people are buying into it. People, you are being manipulated again by greed. Politicians, corporations, and men of means get big money in their coffers from pharmaceutical companies to oppose healthcare for all.

You think they have your best interest at heart? Many do not want to compromise; nothing will satisfy them that are for the benefit of all. So, they feed you half truths about President Obama and his policies. Some of you have swallowed the lies hook, line, and sinker.

The other thing we as Americans lack is patience. Again, our youth are watching. President Obama said many times before he took office that the catastrophic state that America is in will take some time to get out of and it would require some patience from the American people.

He asked you prior to taking office to give him some time. Where has good old common sense gone? He has only been in office 7 months, people. Something is very wrong with your impatient thinking. Do you think in seven months he has had time to get America out of the deep hole that former Pres. Bush and his constituents put us in for the past 8 years? You honestly think everyone should be back to work already? We lost thousands upon thousands of jobs under the Republican administration and some of those jobs are gone forever. Give Pres. Obama some time and stop acting like immature brats. Our youth are watching!

Not everyone is an Obama fan

Responding to 9-4-09 “Get Back to Supporting Obama” piece by Patrick May:

First of all, we all didn’t support Barack Obama. According to CNN election results, he won 53 percent to 46 percent McCain. That’s not 80 percent of America’s support.

In my opinion, he hasn’t done the things he promised in his campaign. He has brought us all deeper in debt. He can’t possibly do all the those things he promised because it would and will bankrupt this country.

This nation does need to be fixed by hard work and with everyone working. It seems now everyone has their hand out and wants to be taken care of.

This country was built on the backs of people with high moral values and a willingness to work toward their goals. The corruption that has run rampant in this country for years is coming home to haunt us all.

The latest trouble started with the Fed’s loose money policy. Then the Democrats voted to make mortgage companies give loans to people who didn’t qualify. That started the whole housing market to explode and finally crash. The collapse took a lot of banks and businesses with it.

Barack Obama inherited a lot of problems but his actions have created a lot of them, too. His stimulus package was nothing more than paybacks to his supporters and an effort to entrench the leftist political class.
