Is America for sale? High court thinks so
Today as I watched the news, I became more and more angry over the things that are happening in our judicial system and politics.
I am a proud American, born and raised in the heartland. I was raised to believe our country as being the land of the free, with justice and liberty for all! I was taught that, in this country, we are all equal, the rich and poor, men and women. Our laws are supposed to protect us all, not just those with more money.
I learned today our Supreme Court is allowing those with the most money buy who our next candidate will be. The justices are bending to the Koch brothers and Sheldon Adelson and other wannabe rulers to buy our elections. I always thought my vote counted when I went to the polls, but I guess that goes by the wayside these days because of the gerrymandering of our boundaries. And now with Wisconsin having poll watchers within 3 feet of our voting, there goes our privacy.
Now, are we going to let this happen? Why after all these years and wars are we just laying down and letting these supposed rulers buy our country? Why have so many Americans died fighting for our freedom and liberties?
I don’t know about you, but I have had and still have family members spend many years defending our country. I will not just lay down and let it all be taken away by a few who think that they can buy whatever they want. American is not and never will be for sale!
Wake up, America, I mean all of us — from all sides of the aisle. We need to tell these guys: This is America, land of the free. It is not for sale at any price. It was paid in full with the blood of our families.
