Letter to the Editor: Sept. 26, 2012

Get all the facts before you vote

I hope you won’t stop reading this when I tell you that I’m voting for Mitt Romney, because that’s not the main point of this piece. You are free to vote for whomever you wish, but I do hope to persuade you to examine all the facts that are able to be known.

I realize many of you are busy with jobs and raising kids and don’t have as much time as I may have on certain days to make myself aware of what is going on in today’s political and world events.

I want to encourage you NOT to get all your coverage from one mainline or cable network but to be open in looking at other coverage. This would include Fox News.

I’m sorry to say that some of you have been told inaccuracies about this network and you have believed them. I have heard it said that Fox “makes things up and spreads lies.” I realize that Fox is more conservatively oriented, but I do believe that they try to be fair and balanced, as is their theme.

Often times, the liberal voice refuses to appear to tell their side of the story, and so the story may have the voice of two more conservative folks but usually there are both sides represented. This is just not so on any other network.

Please change the channel and see what else is out there. Last week, when the Middle East and North Africa were on fire protesting against America, and after our ambassador to Libya and three others had been killed, I found that CNN and MSNBC were still talking about what they were calling a Romney gaffe. This is inexcusable. You deserve better.

We are in a critical time in our country. Both the economy and global events point to potential disaster if our course is not changed.

I’m here to tell you that there are videos being shown on Fox (and sometimes on Fox only) that are obviously President Obama making statements that you need to be aware of in order to understand what he will do if re-elected. He says in his own words on video that he believes in the redistribution of wealth, among other beliefs he holds that have never been a part of the American story. This is what he was saying to “Joe the Plumber” four years ago, and many of you didn’t understand what he was saying.

If you are aware of all the facts and still want to vote for President Obama, that is your right, but please at least make sure you have all the facts by being proactive and checking out all the coverage available. God bless!
