Accidents piling up due to slick roads

From staff reports

Tuesday, between 10:49 a.m. and 10:00 p.m., troopers working from the Indiana State Police Peru District responded to 35 crashes or vehicles that had slid off the roadway in Howard and surrounding counties.

Weather forecast call for slick road conditions to continue this morning and the post is advising motorists to reduce their speed when driving on slick roads.

They are also advising motorists to be cautious of emergency vehicles responding to crashes and INDOT vehicles that will be putting down salt and sand.

Road and weather information can be accessed by going to the Indiana State Police Web site at www.in.gov/isp  or by calling the Indiana State Police Road and Weather Line at (800) 261-7623. Do not call dispatch centers for road conditions as they are extremely busy dispatching personnel to different emergencies.
