Viper engine stolen from Chrysler test garage

10-cylinder engine was taken from Kokomo plant

Tribune staff report

Kokomo police are investigating the theft of a 10-cylinder Viper engine stolen from the test garage at Chrysler Transmission Plant on U.S. 31 South.

At 11:55 a.m. Thursday, a representative from Chrysler reported to police that a pre-production Dodge Viper 10-cylinder engine had been stolen sometime between Dec. 18 and Dec. 19 from the transmission test room.

The representative told police workers discovered the top half of the engine, which was sitting on a skid, was missing Dec. 18. The next day, the engine block was taken, a police report stated.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Kokomo Police Hotline at (765) 456-7017.
