Abused children’s story rouses community

News of the severe abuse endured by two 4-year-olds has many looking for ways to help.

While the children’s mothers are in jail awaiting trial on felony charges of neglect and battery in the case, the community has stepped up to lend a hand to two kids in need.

The children are in the custody of the Department of Child Services, which is now accepting gifts and baskets for the cousins who were taken from their Home Avenue residence earlier this week.

Marilyn Robinson said the department has been flooded with phone calls from concerned residents. You can drop off items at the DCS office, 618 S. Main St., in care of Prevent Child Abuse of Howard County.

For those who prefer to make monetary contributions, Kokomo Tribune employees have established an Abused Children Trust Fund at Solidarity Federal Credit Union. All money will go toward the children’s futures.

You may make a donation to the fund at any of the Solidarity Federal Credit Union’s Kokomo branches.
