Greentown man dies in accident

Tribune staff report

A Greentown man died Tuesday evening when his motorcycle collided with a street sweeper on a ramp leading to I-465 in Indianapolis.

An investigation revealed that Jeffery R. Horoho, 29, was driving his blue 2008 Suzuki XR1 east on the ramp from East Street to eastbound I-465 about 8:20 p.m. when he struck a street sweeper.

State police said the white 2004 Johnson Street Sweeper was being followed by a safety vehicle with an arrow board to warn traffic of the slow-moving vehicle.

Horoho, who was not wearing a helmet, passed the safety vehicle and struck the street sweeper.

He was transported by ambulance to Methodist Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the street sweeper, Derek U. Mauk, 27, Batesville, was not injured.

Indianapolis Metropolitan police, Perry Township Fire Department and Rural Metro Ambulance assisted state police.
