Fire claims 3 in Flora

FLORA A fire claimed the lives of three people in Flora Friday shortly before midnight.

A fourth person was transported from the scene to a Lafayette hospital as was a Flora police officer who pulled one person from the home at 392 E. 100 North on the far north side of the town.

Flora firefighters were called to the scene at approximately 11:30 and immediately called for manpower and tanker support. Personnel from Camden, Burlington, Cutler and Delphi arrived to provide assistance.

Firefighters remained on the scene knocking down hot spots and looking for the cause of the blaze into the early morning hours.

While the cause of the fire isn't known, a strong strorm front moved through the area Friday night that contained heavy lightning.

It was the second deadly fire in the Carroll County town in just over a month. Johnnie F. Dyer died as the result of a fire in his mobile home April 9.
