New KCS board to replace 3 principals

Board will also consider raising cost of lunch.

The new Kokomo-Center School Board and superintendent will start work Monday with a big job — replacing three principals.

The board’s agenda for the 6 p.m. meeting Monday includes accepting resignations from Bon Air Middle School Principal Christopher Lagoni and Wallace Elementary Principal Maravene Beas, as well as the retirement request of McKinley Alternative School Principal Duane Keisling.

Lagoni has accepted a job as assistant principal at Columbia City High School, while Keisling will be a teacher and varsity basketball coach at Eastern High School.

Board members Cristi Brewer-Allen, Harold Canady, Marsha Bowling and Wayne Luttrell will be sworn in at Monday’s meeting. It will also be Superintendent Chris Himsel’s first board meeting. The board will elect its officers during the meeting.

The board also will consider a price increase for breakfast and lunch and vote on a recommendation for textbook rental and student fees.

The board will meet in the administrative service center, 100 W. Lincoln Road.
