51st UPDATE: News from snowstorm

MAYOR ON STREET INSPECTION: Kokomo Mayor Greg Goodnight tweeted, at about 8:45 a.m. Tuesday, he's "seeing a lot of untouched driveways and cars," while inspecting city streets. "Lots of snowmen in yards though," the mayor tweeted.

RESCUE MISSION UPDATE: The Kokomo Rescue Mission dining room at 321 W. Mulberry St. will be open each day to anyone needing shelter from the cold from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The warming center will serve coffee and hot chocolate, and hats and gloves will be available to those who need them. The Mission's shelter for men and its Open Arms shelter for women and children will remain open for those seeking overnight shelter. The Mission's thrift stores -- A Great Find in Frankfort, at 1415 E. Wabash, and the Care & Share Store at 314 W. Mulberry in Kokomo, as well as the warehouse and Mission office in Kokomo will be closed Tuesday.

HOWARD COUNTY GOVERNMENT: Howard County buildings and offices will reopen Tuesday at 10 a.m. Monday's commissioners' meeting will be moved to 4 p.m. Tuesday. The Howard County Drainage Board and public hearings for drain assessments are canceled and will be rescheduled at a later date.

KOKOMO-HOWARD COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARY: KHCPL plans to open all locations at 1 Tuesday. This is a tentative plan and could change, so please check our Facebook page or call for updated information before coming to our facilities. We want to be open to serve you, without risking your safety or the safety of our employees. Thank you for your understanding.

COMMUNITY HOWARD: Replay Physical Therapy, 2312 S Dixon Road and Kokomo Sports Center, 111 W Southway Blvd. will be closed Tuesday.

KOKOMO HUMANE SOCIETY: Will be closed Tuesday. Animal control will work from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., with emergency services available after hours. County residents should contact the Howard County Sheriff's Department with animal control complaints, and Kokomo residents should contact the Kokomo Police Department, and they will dispatch animal control officers. Regular hours for the Humane Society are expected to resume Wednesday.
