---- — PERU — The Miami County Sheriff’s Department is using nearly $15,000 seized during two drug busts to purchase three mobile video cameras for department vehicles.

Sheriff Tim Miller said deputies seized the money, along with a 2005 Cadillac and two handguns, during two drug busts involving the same person.

The Miami County prosecutor petitioned the court to forfeit the property and some of the money to the sheriff’s department for the camera purchases.

The judge ordered that the property be given to the sheriff’s department. The Miami County Council Tuesday appropriated over $10,000 of the money to the department.
