MUNCIE — The driver of a car involved in a fatal crash in Miami County in May was arrested Thursday.
Deputies with the Miami County Sheriff’s Department, in coordination with Ball State University Police, arrested Jacoby Wells Sanders, 19, Thursday in Muncie on a warrant for six charges relating to the May 11 crash.
The one-car crash on Daniels Road near Peru killed Dalton James Rose, 19, and injured Miranda Worl, 19.
Sanders faces charges of failure to stop after an accident resulting in serious bodily injury, causing death while operating a vehicle with a blood-alcohol content of .08 or more, causing death when operating a vehicle while intoxicated, operating a vehicle while intoxicated, operating a vehicle with a blood-alcohol content of .08 or more and illegal consumption of alcohol, the Miami County Sheriff’s Department reported.
According to police, Sanders was driving a 2001 Volkswagen west in the 4000 block of Daniels Road May 11 when he missed a curve and drove off the road into a patch of trees.
Rose, who was sitting in the back seat, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sanders was treated at Dukes Memorial Hospital and was later transported to an Indianapolis hospital.
A front-seat passenger Miranda Worl, 19, suffered minor injuries and was treated and released from Dukes Hospital.
