Attempted murder suspect wanted

Zachary Scott, 24, is wanted in the August stabbing.

A Tipton man police say stabbed a 43-year-old man on North Purdum Street back in August is wanted on a warrant for attempted murder.

The Howard County Prosecutor’s office filed the Class A felony attempted murder charge along with a B felony aggravated battery charge last week against Zachary Scott, 24, Tipton, according to court records.

A warrant for his arrested was then issued Dec. 19 out of Howard Superior Court 4.

Scott remains on the loose and Kokomo police are hoping for clues to his whereabouts.

Police were called to the area of North Purdum Street at 6:46 a.m. Aug. 24 to a report of a man being beaten and stabbed. When police arrived, they found David Parr unconscious and unresponsive on the sidewalk suffering from an apparent stab wound to the chest and other injuries, Kokomo police reported.

The probable cause affidavit stated that Parr suffered multiple fractures to his face, a punctured left lung, a ruptured diaphragm, a lacerated spleen and two puncture wounds to his chest. He was transported to an Indianapolis hospital and has since been released.

Several neighbors and acquaintances of Parr told police they heard people arguing in front of a house and later saw Parr lying on the sidewalk, the affidavit stated.

Police have already arrested three others on an aggravated battery charge for assisting in the beating and stabbing of Parr.

Howard County sheriff deputies served warrants on Spencer T. Graham, 24, Tipton, and Mariah K. Hankins, 21, Marion, last week. Both have since bonded out of jail pending their arraignments.

Earlier this month, police arrested Charles Estep, 23, Cicero, on the same charge. He remains jailed on a $30,000 bail.

The charging information stated that Scott allegedly stabbed Parr in retribution for an incident at Westville Correctional Facility. Hankins allegedly drove the men to the area where Parr was beaten and stabbed, the probable cause affidavit stated. Estep and Graham were charged for assisting Scott in carrying out the crime.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Zachary Scott should contact the Kokomo Police Department at 765-459-5101 or the Hotline at 765-456-7017.
