A 27-year-old Anderson man was arrested Thursday on a felony child molest charge for allegedly molesting a 6-year-old girl last year.
Howard County sheriff deputies served a warrant on Michael L. White Thursday at the New Castle Correctional Facility, where White had been serving time for theft and operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a previous conviction. He was sentenced in August to one year for the theft and again in October on the OWI conviction.
The molest investigation began in June prior to his incarceration when the victim’s mother reported to police that White had touched her daughter inappropriately and told her not to tell anyone, the charging information filed in Howard Circuit Court stated.
The victim was interviewed at Tomorrow’s Hope, a child advocate house, where she told detectives that White had touched her “private parts.”
White is now being held at the Howard County jail on a $15,000 bond. He is set to appear in court Wednesday for his initial hearing. If convicted, he could serve up to 8 years in prison.
