From staff reports
---- — Excessive runoff from Thursday’s heavy rainfall caused some minor flooding of small creeks and streams and left water standing on many city and county roads.
There were no reports of stranded motorists or serious accidents related to the storm.
High water signs were placed on several city and county roads. A section of West Markland Avenue between Dixon and Berkley roads was closed at about 11:30 a.m. after water covered the roadway just west of the Howard County jail. The city reopened Markland Avenue at 3 p.m.
Sycamore Street between 600 West and 700 West also was closed overnight.
Kokomo police warn motorists not to drive through any bodies of water covering a roadway.
A flood warning issued Thursday morning expired at 3 p.m. for Kokomo and surrounding areas, according to the National Weather Service. The area, though, remains on a flood watch through today as more rain is expected.
