Man charged in scuffle with police

Suspect faces multiple felony charges

---- — A Kokomo man faces several battery on a police officer charges after he fought two officers following a traffic stop on Ind. 931 and Morgan Street Tuesday afternoon.

Kokomo police stopped Theodore Hannibal, 41, after noticing him driving even though his license is suspended, police said.

Maj. Brian Seldon said Officer Alexander Harper sustained an injury to his shoulder in the scuffle with Hannibal. A second officer suffered an abrasion to his knee, Seldon reported.

Harper was taken to Community Howard Regional Health for treatment and was released. The other officer did not require treatment.

Hannibal faces Class C felony charges of resisting law enforcement and battery on a police officer, a Class D felony battery on a police officer and a misdemeanor charge of driving while suspended.

If convicted, he could face up to eight years on the Class C felony and up to three years on the Class D felony.
