Man charged with felony arson

— Kokomo police arrested an 18-year-old man on a felony arson charge Thursday in connection with a trailer fire at a mobile home park at 2700 N. Washington St.

Fire crews from the Kokomo Fire Department were called at 9 a.m. to lot No. 27 and requested assistance from detectives of the Kokomo Police Department.

Witnesses told detectives they observed a white male walking toward the residence carrying a gas can. Witnesses said moments later they saw smoke coming from the residence. The fire was then extinguished with a fire extinguisher.

Detectives located Timothy W. VonOgden, who was an acquaintance of the resident. After interviews were conducted, VonOgden was charged with Class B felony arson, Class D felony criminal recklessness and a Class A misdemeanor charge of possession of marijuana.

Police said two people were inside the trailer at the time, but they were not injured.

This case remains active for investigation. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Detective Rich Benzinger at 765-456-7324, or the Kokomo Police Department Hotline at 765-456-7107.
