A man police say was on prescription drugs fell asleep while driving his car and struck a house Thursday afternoon causing substantial damage to the home.
Kokomo police were alerted to the crash shortly after 5 p.m. When officers arrived, Robert M. Rogers, 28, was already being treated by paramedics, according to an accident report.
Officers stated on the report Rogers had taken prescription drugs and kept falling asleep while officers were talking to him at the scene.
Witnesses in the area told police Rogers was driving south on Dixon Road when his 2005 Chrysler Town & Country drifted across the center line, went off the road and hit the northwest side of the house. The report stated the house sustained substantial damage estimated at between $10,000 and $25,000.
Rogers was taken to Community Howard Regional Health Systems, where he tested positive for opiates, according to the report. Rogers was not injured in the crash and police did not say if anyone was in the house at the time of the crash.
