Seattle police: Kokomo man posed as officer in fake sex sting

Kokomo — A Kokomo man was arrested in Seattle, Wash., in what police are calling a fake sex sting operation.

Seattle police said Adam C. Blazak, 28, an Indiana University student from Kokomo, used a Craigslist ad and dozens of emails to lure a man to a Seattle hotel room, and then proceeded to handcuff the man and extort money from him.

As reported by the Seattle Post-Intelligencer and Seattle Weekly, police said Blazak indicated in the Craigslist ad that he was a 14-year-old girl looking for sex.

Police said a 19-year-old, foreign-born man responded to the ad, exchanged between “50 and 100” emails with the fictional girl, and finally showed up at a Seattle motel where Blazak had rented a room.

According to court records, Blazak and the man walked up to the room. Once inside, police said Blazak yelled, “Federal agent, get on the ground!” Then yelled, “Put your hands behind your back! You’re under arrest!” Police said Blazak pinned the man to the floor and handcuffed him, before taking his wallet and car keys.

After detaining the man, police said Blazak indicated he could be persuaded to let the man go, in exchange for money. Police said Blazak and the man then went to a local bank, where the man withdrew $191 and gave it to Blazak.

The man later reported at least part of what happened to police, telling them he’d been robbed during what was supposed to be a sale of video games.

The Seattle papers said police initially bought the man’s story, but after speaking with Blazak, learned about the fake Craigslist ad. They then confirmed the details of the fake sex sting with the other man.

Police arrested both men. Blazak was arrested on an extortion charge, and police arrested the other man for responding to the Craigslist ad. According to the Post-Intelligencer, Blazak posted $50,000 bail and was released from jail. He has yet to enter a plea.
