Tipton man arrested in carjacking

Brian R. Isenhower faces seven charges

— Howard County sheriff deputies arrested a Tipton man Thursday on seven felony charges in connection with a Feb. 9 carjacking and robbery of a woman.

Brian R. Isenhower, 36, faces charges of Class A felony kidnapping, Class B felony armed robbery, a Class B felony carjacking, Class D felonies criminal recklessness, criminal confinement, auto theft and theft.

The victim told deputies that she was giving Isenhower a ride to a friend's house on South Goyer Road when Isenhower pulled a gun on her and ordered her to drive out in the county, Capt. Greg Hargrove reported.

As they approached the intersection of Goyer Road and Markland Avenue, Isenhower ordered the woman out of her vehicle in the area of 700 East and 200 South and stole her purse, shoes and coat ordering her to walk down the road. Isenhower then fled the area in the woman’s 1999 Silver Cutless. The woman was not injured.

Deputies have been looking for Isenhower since the Feb. 9 ordeal and found him Thursday in Indianapolis after receiving a Crime Stoppers tip that Isenhower was held up in a motel in the 8000 block of North Shadeland Avenue, Hargrove reported.

Howard County Sheriff Detective Jordan Buckley with the assistance of Indianapolis Metro Police served a search warrant at the motel, where they found Isenhower along with evidence linking him to the carjacking.

Isenhower was taken into custody without incident and transported back to the Howard County jail. He is being held on $75,000 bail.

This case remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact Buckley at 765-456-2031.
