---- — A 64-year-old Kokomo man died Tuesday in an Indianapolis hospital after he was rescued from a fire at his home earlier in the day.

Kokomo firefighters were called at 2:43 p.m. Tuesday to the home of Thomas McKay, 823 W. Lordeman St., to a report of a fire and a man trapped inside the home.

The fire was contained to the living room of the home. Fire crews found McKay just inside the front door. He was taken to St. Joseph Hospital then transferred to Wishard Hospital in Indianapolis, where he was pronounced dead Tuesday.

The Marion County Coroner’s office said the cause of death has yet to be determined pending an investigation.

KFD Investigator Chris Hall said the cause of the fire remains under investigation, but officials do not suspect foul play. Hall said McKay lived alone.
