A man who bonded out of jail on an attempted-murder charge pleaded guilty Wednesday to a charge of aggravated battery, as part of a recommended plea bargain in the case.
A day after Vincent D. Quarles, 27, entered into the proposed plea in Howard Circuit Court, he was arrested in Tipton on charges of driving while suspended and possession of marijuana.
It’s not known if that arrest will affect his chances for a plea.
The filing also vacated a July 1 jury trial scheduled in the case.
Kokomo police arrested Quarles in September 2012 on charges of attempted murder and aggravated battery in a July 2012 shooting of a Kokomo man, in the parking lot of the former Rock Bottom Grill, 1833 S. Plate St. The Kokomo man was shot in the face and survived.
In Wednesday’s court hearing, Judge Lynn Murray took the plea under advisement. A possible sentencing date has not been set.
