PERU – A 61-year-old Amboy woman sustained a serious head injury Friday morning after police say she crashed her scooter near Peru.
Dora Myers was driving a Verona scooter on the 2900 block of Francis Slocum Trail at around 11:10 a.m. when for an undetermined reason she crashed and laid the scooter down, police said.
Myers was ejected from the scooter and came to rest on the roadway.
Myers was transported by ambulance to Duke’s Memorial Hospital with a severe head injury. She was later flown by medical helicopter to Lutheran Hospital in Ft. Wayne.
Myers was not wearing a helmet.
Police continue to investigate the incident. At this time, police said they don’t believe the use of alcohol or drugs contributed to the crash.
