---- — A 48-year-old Kokomo man died late Tuesday when his motorcycle collided with a car at Washington and King streets.
Kokomo police reported that Jeffrey L. Workman was traveling south on Washington Street shortly after 10 p.m. when his 2008 Harley Davidson motorcycle collided with a 1993 Pontiac Sunbird.
The preliminary investigation revealed the Sunbird was also driving south on Washington Street. The Sunbird was attempting to turn east onto King Street when the Harley Davidson traveling behind the car drove into the northbound lane to miss the car and collided with the car’s front end, Officer Troy Hintz reported.
Workman suffered head and neck injuries and was transported by ambulance to Saint Joseph Hospital, where he was pronounced dead as a result of his injuries, Hintz reported.
Workman was not wearing a helmet.
The driver of the Sunbird, 36 year-old Chance Rich of Kokomo, and three occupants in the Sunbird were not injured. All four were wearing seat belts. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in this collision, Hintz said in his report.
This case is under investigation by the Kokomo Police Department and the Howard County Coroner’s Office. Anyone having any information regarding this case is asked to contact Officer Troy Hintz at 765-459-5101, or the Kokomo Police Department Hotline at 765-456-7017.
