Kokomo police are continuing the investigation into last week’s shooting death of a 21-year-old woman and are hoping for the public’s help in solving the case.
“Our goal is to bring the person or persons responsible to justice and get them off the street,” Capt. Brian Seldon said.
Police are looking into the possibility that Destiny R. Pittman was shot by one of two intruders who broke into her home at 815 James Drive.
When officers arrived shortly after 7 p.m. Feb. 7, Pittman was found unconscious and unresponsive suffering from a gunshot wound. Howard County Coroner Jay Price conducted an autopsy the next day which revealed she died of a single gunshot to her torso.
Seldon said Pittman lived in the home with her boyfriend and said another female and two young children were in the home when the shooting occurred. They were not injured.
Seldon also said they are not ruling out anybody as a suspect.
Police have not released much information on the crime since it’s an active investigation. Seldon did say detectives are urging anyone with information to call the Kokomo Police Department.
Anyone with additional information about this shooting death should contact the Kokomo Police Department at 765-459-5101, the KPD Hotline at 765-456-7017 or the Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 1-800-222-TIPS.
