Sponsors needed for Run, Walk and Roll

Maple Crest Middle School Student Honor Council and National Junior Honor Society members are seeking additional sponsors for their upcoming Run, Walk and Roll event.

The fourth annual Run, Walk and Roll, which includes a 5K and one mile run/walk, supports Bona Vista programs, a human service organization for adults and children with and without disabilities. The event will take place June 7 at the UAW 292 building, 1201 West Alto Road.

Pre-registration has begun, with May 23 being the deadline to secure a T-shirt and goody bag. Those interested in participating can download a registration form at www.bonavista.org or www.ckrr.us. The early registration fee is $6 for the one mile walk/run and $16 for the 5K walk/run. The cost goes up to $10 and $20, respectively, on the day of the event.

Registration will run from 6 to 7:45 a.m. June 7. The 5K race will begin at 8 a.m., and the one mile fun run/walk will begin at 8:15 a.m. Sponsors will be recognized at 9:30 a.m. Door prizes will be distributed throughout the event, and food and drinks will be provided for participants and volunteers.

The focus of the event each year is to educate the community about the importance of fitness and help promote disability awareness and inclusion. Walgreens, Wildtree, American Red Cross, Bona Vista Programs, Anthem/Blue Cross and many more will have informational booths set up at Run, Walk and Roll.

The top male and female runner/walkers will be presented with awards, as well as the top three in each age category. The one mile run/walk participants ages 12 and younger will all receive a medal upon completion of the run.

The Run, Walk and Roll is hosted by the Maple Crest Student Honor Council, National Junior Honor Society and Bona Vista Programs. To date, the “king” sponsors include: Advanced Medical Imaging, Sycamore Financial Group and Maple Crest Middle School.
