---- — Kokomo police arrested a man Monday who they say is connected to two robberies of Kokomo Heritage Federal Credit Union, 901 S. Courtland Ave.
Christopher D. Hart, 41, Kokomo, was taken into custody on a Crime Stoppers tip around 2:50 p.m., after police went to a residence in the 4400 block of South 00 East/West.
Police said Hart robbed the credit union twice, once on Jan. 3 and again on April 1. During both incidents, the suspect was described as a white male, thin build, wearing a dark face covering. The suspect ran from the bank to the southeast on both occasions, witnesses said.
Before raiding the south side residence, Kokomo Police detectives conducted surveillance on the residence until a black Jeep arrived. Police said Hart got out of the Jeep, which coincided with the Crime Stoppers tip.
KPD detectives said Hart is also a suspect in a December 2012 robbery of a bank in Peru and said they've notified the Peru Police department.
Hart initially faces two Class B felony robbery charges, each of which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years.
This case remains active for investigation. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Detective Scott Purtee at 765-456-7322, or the Kokomo Police Department Hotline at 765-456-7107.
