---- — A Kokomo woman is trying to find out why someone chopped down several of her and her neighbors’ trees on East Vaile Avenue.
Ashley McBride said she noticed three trees about 3 inches in diameter were cut down in her yard sometime Friday or Saturday.
After finding the trees were cut down, McBride said she looked around and found two of her neighbors’ trees also were cut down. For some reason, the trees were taken, but the branches were left on the ground.
“The trees were about 3 inches in diameter and fairly tall,” she said. “All I can picture is someone needing poles to make a teepee or fort. It seems weird to come on someone’s property and cut trees. We would really like to know who cut our trees and for what purpose.”
She reported the incident to police on Saturday.
If caught, the culprit could face a Class B misdemeanor charge of criminal mischief for damaging another person’s property. The charge is increased to an A misdemeanor if the cost of the damage is between $250 and $2,500. If the damage exceeds $2,500, the offense is raised to a Class D felony.
