Kokomo police are investigating the shooting of a man found dead on the city’s northeast side.
City road construction workers found the body of Robert Patmon, 32, Michigan, who had been shot lying in the street east of the downtown area early Friday, Maj. Brian Seldon confirmed.
Kokomo police detectives had crime scene tape draped around a house at 611 E. Mulberry St., along with a section of Longview Drive, where the body was found between 6:30 and 7 a.m.
It appears the man was shot sometime Thursday evening, according to police at the scene.
No arrests have been made, Seldon said.
An autopsy on the body was conducted by the Howard County Coroner’s Office Friday afternoon. Jay Price, Howard County coroner, said Patmon died of a gunshot wound to the back.
Detectives remained in the area Friday afternoon conducting interviews with neighbors in the area between Walnut and Sycamore streets.
