Alcohol suspected in fatal Fulton crash

---- — FULTON — A 34-year-old Macy man died of injuries he sustained in a car crash late Monday, according to police, who believe alcohol played a part in the crash.

Emergency personnel responded to a crash around 7:45 p.m. Monday near the intersection of Fulton County Roads 600 South and 125 West where an eastbound pickup truck had traveled off the north side of 600 South, hitting a road sign and two large trees, according to the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department.

The driver, Barak Chandler of Macy, was found in the vehicle with severe injuries from the crash. He was transported by helicopter to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, where he was later pronounced dead from his injuries.

Sheriff’s deputies believe alcohol was a contributing factor, according to a release from the sheriff’s department.

Fulton County 911, Liberty Township Volunteer Fire Department, Kewanna Township Volunteer Fire Department, Fulton County EMS units and Samaritan helicopter assisted the sheriff’s department.
