PERU — A 38-year-old Peru woman faces felony charges of battery after police say she stabbed her husband in the chest two times with a kitchen knife early Monday morning.
Peru detectives said police were called to West Spring Street around 1 a.m. Monday, after a resident at the home reported Jacqueline R. Jaberg attacked her husband, Robert W. Jaberg, 44, in the kitchen.
When police arrived, they found Robert sitting on the kitchen floor with blood coming from his hands, chest and head. Detectives said he had two stab wounds in his chest. The resident at the home reported Jacqueline had attacked him after a domestic dispute.
Detectives said the couple had ongoing marital problems, and had been drinking before the incident. Breath tests revealed Jacqueline had a blood-alcohol level three times over the legal driving limit.
Detectives said the couple’s two children, ages 5 and 13, were in the home at the time of the attack. They said one remained asleep, but the other likely heard the incident.
Robert was transferred to Dukes Memorial Hospital, where detectives said he was treated for his injuries and released. Jacqueline showed no signs of physical injury.
Jacqueline was booked into the Miami County Jail on felony charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon and domestic battery. Detectives said the charges may be altered.
