What are your favorite summertime flicks?

[Editor’s note: To participate in future queries, keep an eye on our Twitter and Facebook accounts.]

Summer blockbusters are generally regarded as Hollywood’s cash cows. However, summertime is also a fertile setting for some our most beloved films. So, we wanted to know: "What is your favorite summer movie?"

Your answers

“‘Twister.’ Because there is nothing like being reminded that this summer it could happen to you.” – Marisa Mullett

“I loved ‘The Lone Ranger’ this summer! ‘The Goonies’ is one of my all-time favorites!” – Sharyle Burwell

“‘The Long, Hot Summer.’ What else? … I [watch] the Paul Newman [version] every summer.” – Cindy L. Rush

“‘Grown Ups.’ Ready for ‘Grown Ups 2.’” – Shane Westerman

“Past movie? ‘Stand By Me.’ Current? ‘The Heat.’” – Austin Levi Ramer

Our answers

“‘The Lone Ranger.’ Johnny Depp is awesome and makes this movie.  I remember when little we had to watch this every time it was on. My Dad loved westerns and especially the Lone Ranger. Three quarters of the way through the movie the music starts playing, and you know they're going to save the day!” – Bev Sams

“All things baseball: ‘Angels in the Outfield,’ ‘A League of Their Own,’ ‘Major League,’ ‘Field of Dreams’ ...” – Charlene Woodruff

“This summer? I have no input. I pay zero attention to Hollywood and haven't for 20 years. If all time, then is ‘summer movie’ a movie ABOUT some summer theme, or is it just movies released in summer (like summer blockbusters)? If it’s the former, ‘Dazed and Confused’ comes the closest.” – Pedro Velazco

“‘The Seven Samurai.’ A village training all summer to defeat a group of marauding bandits.” – Scott Smith

“While it would be pretty difficult to top classics like ‘Stand By Me’ or ‘The Sandlot,’ due to my years as a camp counselor I have a special place in my heart for ‘Wet Hot American Summer.’” – Rob Burgess
