Miami County has elevated the travel status to red meaning only emergency vehicles are allowed to be on the road.
Drifting in areas has made travel nearly impossible, the Miami County Sheriff Department said in a news release issued Saturday morning.
“We are currently experiencing cars, including four-wheel drive vehicles becoming stuck in the middle of county roadways,” Sheriff Tim Miller said in the release.
Miller said county highway crews will be out in an attempt to open main roadways. Until then, nobody should be on the roads unless it’s an emergency.
Winds of 25 to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph are expected to continue until 7 p.m.
