Howard County sheriff deputies located a deputy's gun and other items stolen in a burglary two years ago while searching a home on Elmwood Lane on Monday.
Deputies obtained a search warrant for the western Howard County house after detectives received information that the stolen handgun was seen at the residence, Capt. Greg Hargrove reported Tuesday.Detectives, assisted by the SWAT team, executed the warrant and found the stolen handgun, a police baton and handcuffs. Hargrove said there were multiple people in the home, including several small children, during the search. Due to the condition of the home, the building inspector was called to investigate.
The department-issued equipment was stolen during a burglary of a deputy’s residence in 2011, Hargrove said.No arrests were made Monday, but charges are expected to be filed in the case.
