The American Red Cross is accepting donations to help victims of Sunday’s tornadoes. You can donate by visiting redcross.org, calling 1-800-RED CROSS or texting REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation.
Donations are being accepted by the United Way of Howard County. Send checks to Kokomo Disaster Relief at United Way of Howard County, 210 W. Walnut St., Kokomo, IN 46902.
People wishing to volunteer should call 211 or 765-868-4133. Travis Tafflinger of Bridges Outreach is keeping a list of volunteers and will coordinate and mobilize them.
Heavy equipment volunteers should call Tom Tolin at 765-456-7419.
Donations are being accepted at the old Kokomo Spring Factory, 500 E. Wheeler St. beginning at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Needed items include canned food, manual can openers, plastic containers, Ziplock bags, diapers and wipes, formula, shampoo and conditioner, bottled water, cleaning supplies, flashlights and batteries. Hours will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. No electronics can be accepted. People in need of items must register with the Red Cross.
The Howard County Recorder's Office is serving as a keepsake depository. Belongings such as pictures and official documents can be dropped off at 230 N. Main St.
