A 41-year-old Kokomo man was arrested Friday after leading deputies on a high-speed chase and driving through a guardrail into the lawn of a business on U.S. 31.
Deputies said they clocked a 1997 Ford F-150 driven by Henry P. Stone at 85 miles per hour on U.S. 31 in Miami County just before 11 p.m. Thursday.
Deputies attempted to stop Stone at U.S. 31 and Ind. 218, but he proceeded to speed up and pull into the parking lot of the Dutch Café, located across from Grissom Air Reserve Base.
Deputies said Stone smashed through a guardrail near the restaurant and continued to flee through the lawn of Ace Welding and into the lot of Ace Carhart.
From there, deputies said he fled on foot and was apprehended after a brief struggle.
Stone was charged with operating while intoxicated, habitual traffic violator, resisting law enforcement resulting in injury, resisting law enforcement with a vehicle and public intoxication.
