Lost: 8 pounds, 3 percent body fat
Being able to fit back into her pre-baby clothes isn’t the only thing Mommy Makeover participant Charity Rossiter has gained from the eight-week project that saw our moms working out three times a week with a personal trainer, ramping up their cardiovascular exercise and buckling down on their nutrition.
All along, Charity has known that the Mommy Makeover project would be one that could help her immensely. After losing a significant amount of weight in her 20s, she met her husband and the two have made fitness and health a priority. But after her nearly 1-year-old son, Jonathan, was born, she said she had started to feel like “the old Charity.”
After Mommy Makeover — where she lost 9 1/4 inches and 8 pounds over the last eight weeks — she says she feels normal again.
“I feel like me again. I really do. I feel like I’m not just a mom, I’m not just a wife,” she said.
She said she plans on continuing to work with trainer Brad Webster after the conclusion of the project and has plans to compete in a biathlon and the Break-Away Bicycle Club’s Sunstroke 74 and Sizzlin’ Century Ride.
Lost: 10 pounds, 3 percent body fat
Jennie Rhees says she knows that the warmer weather and the end of Mommy Makeover will mean she won’t be in the gym as much as she has been the past eight weeks.
But that doesn’t mean she’ll be slacking.
“I may not make it into the gym every day, but there’s something I can find,” said Jennie.
Jogging strollers, running and impromptu workouts at the jungle gym are all becoming part of Jennie’s repertoire.
She also plans to continue training with Rob Land, because she knows she needs some accountability to maintain the weight she’s lost and keep up her strength training.
“I’m the kind of person who likes to be challenged, and Rob is the kind of guy who went right along with that,” she said.
Lost: 19 pounds, 6 percent body fat
For Rebecca Hampton, the eight weeks of Mommy Makeover is just the beginning of her future in fitness.
She set a weight-loss goal of 21 pounds by the end of our project, and she is dangerously close — and expects to hit the 21-pound mark on Monday.
She said she had no idea she was capable of.
“What can I do in another eight weeks that I can’t do now?”
Her ultimate goal is to lose another 35 pounds, and she said she looks forward to a time when she has lost enough that she will grant herself a once-a-week “cheat day” to be a little more lenient on her nutrition.
“I’m not done yet,” she said. “I’m still on this journey. This is just a huge jumpstart.”
Admittedly, she said her weight loss hasn’t been easy. Rebecca, who has recently gone back to work after her maternity leave, now works out at 5 a.m. before commuting an hour to work and says she will continue training with Rob Land as well.
“It’s a choice. You have to choose to do it and make it a priority,” Rebecca said.
She says the project has taught her how to change her lifestyle, and she and husband Robby have enjoyed learning how to cook together.
And Robby has had his own makeover during the last eight weeks — he lost 12 pounds as well.
