SLIDE SHOW: Liberty Belle B-17 flight

The Liberty Belle B-17 bomber flew into Mount Comfort Airport east of Indianapolis, Monday, June 29. The 60-year-old plane, a historic part of the World War II military effort, will be giving rides for $430 Saturday, July 4, and Sunday, July 5.

Monday's flight was to give media members and several World War II veterans a preview. Kokomo veteran John Eads was a 20-year-old when he went over to Europe for the first time. As a waist gunner, Eads eventually participated in 50 missions.

The flight was the first time in 60 years that Eads was able to be in a B-17 bomber in flight; seeing the gun position he was responsible for, remembering the men he fought with.

Staff photojournalist Erik Markov went on that flight with Eads and his wife Thelma, chronicling the experience in images and audio. Go to www.libertyfoundation.org for more information about the plane and scheduling a flight.

Please check that your computer's audio is on.
