Velma E. Peacock, 92, Kokomo, died Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at Waterford Place Health Campus, Kokomo. She was born Dec. 5,1915, in South Bend, to Charles Rolf and Mable Seifert, who both preceded her in death. On Oct. 25, 1937, she married Oscar Peacock, who also preceded her in death.
She was a homemaker in her own home.
Velma belonged to the Eastern Star, White Shrine, Kokomo Bowling Hall of Fame. Velma served many years volunteering for hospitals and other organizations. She belonged to the Faith United Methodist Church. She loved to be out in the outdoors fishing, playing and coaching softball.
She is survived by a sons, Charles “Gus” Peacock and wife Sandy, Fayetteville, Tenn., Bill and wife Judith Judy Peacock, Kokomo; grandchildren, Lori (Peacock) Hodges, Louisiana, Kristi (Peacock) Bordelon, Louisiana, James Peacock, Kokomo, Larry Peacock, Peru; stepgrandchildren, Curtis Shank, Kokomo, Jerry Peacock, Virginia, Lonni Williams, Kokomo, and several great-grandchildren and great-great-granchildren.
Velma is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Helen Rupert, brother, Charles Rolf.
Services are 12 p.m. today at Ellers Mortuary, with Pastor Evan Strong officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Kokomo. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. today at the mortuary.
